Avdiivka left without electricity, water, heat. Poroshenko interrupted visit to Germany

Militants of the illegal armed group of Donetsk have damaged the last power line in Avdiivka: city is left without water, electricity and heat.

As reported by Pavlo Zhebrivskyi, the chairman of the Regional Government Department.

“The filtration plant and coke plant (which provided heat for Avdiivka) are now de-energized. The city is left without water, electricity and heat”, – he wrote on his Facebook page.

Vyacheslav Abroskin, the Chief of the National Police in the Donetsk region, reported that 25 thousand local residents are without electricity.

“Temperature dropped to -18C. People are in a critical state. Civil-military administration and State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) are doing everything possible to prevent a catastrophe in the city”, – he wrote on his Facebook page.

The Prosecutor’s Office defined the shelling of Avdiivka as a terrorist act, as reported by the press service of the Prosecutor’s Office.

“Terrorists of the DPR struck a targeted attack on the residential areas of Avdiivka, while having reliable information that the civilians are in the area”, – said in the press service and added that as a result of the shelling three civilians received “mine-explosive injuries and multiple shrapnel wounds to various parts of the body”.

POROSHENKO LEAVES BERLIN

President Petro Poroshenko interrupted his working visit to Germany due to events near Donetsk.

“President interrupted his visit to Germany due to emergency situation in Avdiivka, verging on humanitarian catastrophe”, Svyatoslav Tsegolko, spokesman for the head of state, reported on Twitter page.

“The President has instructed the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard to provide control over the public order and security, as well as measures to prevent the defrosting of heating systems in the residential areas and apartment buildings”, – said Hennadiy Zubko, the Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services.

Petro Poroshenko instructed to hold the meeting of Trilateral Contact Group in order to settle the conflict in Donbas.

“Just now, the President instructed to initiate the convocation of an emergency meeting of Trilateral Contact Group, in any format, as well as in a format of video conference, in order to discuss the critical situation in Avdiivka”, – said Kostiantyn Yelisieiev, the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine calls on the international partners to increase the pressure on the Kremlin due to the conflict in Avdiivka.

“We demand from the Russian Federation to immediately cease hostilities and abide the state of ceasefire. We appeal to the international partners with plea to strengthen the political and diplomatic pressure on the Kremlin, in order to stop the dangerous escalation in the Donbas and to avoid the humanitarian catastrophe in the region”, – said in a statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

In the morning of January 29, the illegal armed group of Donetsk began the assault in the area near the industrial zone of Avdiivka, in order to capture the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On Sunday, the press center of ATO reported about the deaths of five Ukrainian soldiers and injuries of 13 others. On Monday, the deaths of two Ukrainian soldiers and injuries of five other officers were reported.
