Person with disability to play lead role in Ukrainian film

The Other feature film is a psychological drama describing the problems of a person with disability.

As reported at the website of the Ukraine Crisis Media Center, Hryhoriy Hryshkan, the author of the film project and displaced person from Donbas, will play the lead role in the film.

Director of The Other movie, Vinsent Mettel says, “When I first met Hryhoriy, I was afraid this project may be focused on one problem of the narrow audience. The main thing is that this movie reminds Ukrainians of the discrimination, existing in our society. The movie should encourage seek solutions to problems, not excite pity.”

The project aims to develop the tolerant attitude towards people with disabilities.

I am the other person. And I want to prove that even a person, who differs in functional capabilities from the other, can be successful. According to the screenplay, the main character runs successful business, has premium car, and elite real estate. However, he does not have a family. These people, like everyone else, want to love and be loved,” Hryhoriy Hryshkan says.

Hryhoriy is not a professional actor, but director is amazed at his determination.

The authors plan to show the film not only in Ukraine, but also to apply for participation in the Cannes Film Festival. Film production needs 50,000 thousand, now being collected via fundraising. The filmmakers plant to return all box sales revenue to the investors.

Ukrainian actor Oleksiy Horbunov will play in the film. The filmmakers also plan to invite the Okean Elzy frontman Svyatoslav Vakarchuk as a composer. The release date hire is not revealed yet.
