Russian forces also struck a petrol station in Kharkiv’s Kyivskyi District with a combat drone.

“Thirty-five people received explosive injuries, while the rest suffered cuts and lacerations, glass wounds, bruises and acute stress reactions,” Syniehubov reported.

The head of the oblast military administration specified that three children were among the injured: an 11-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy suffered explosive injuries, and a 15-year-old girl suffered an acute stress reaction.

Thirty injured people remain in hospitals, three of them in critical condition.

The aerial bombs hit the Slobidskyi District, causing warehouses to catch fire and damaging residential buildings.

According to Terekhov, there may be people trapped under the rubble of one of the residential buildings. Search and rescue operations and the inspection of the strike sites are underway.

On the evening of 4 October, one person was killed and eight others were injured in Kharkiv’s Industrialnyi district in a Russian strike involving Banderol drone-launched cruise missiles, one of which hit a car.

Meanwhile, on 5 October, the US president once again blamed Ukrainian strikes on Russia’s oil refining industry for rising fuel prices.

“What’s driving up Gasoline is no longer the Strait of Hormuz, because Record Numbers of Barrels are coming out now on an almost daily basis, but the word, ‘Refineries,’ where Russia’s are being blown up by Ukraine,” he wrote on social media platform Truth Social.

U.S. President Donald Trump has not secured an end to Russia’s war within 24 hours of taking office, as he had promised. Furthermore, numerous Ukrainian and international experts point out that the U.S., as a guarantor state under the Budapest Memorandum, is pressuring Kyiv into capitulation.

Earlier, Ukrainian human rights lawyer and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Oleksandra Matviichuk criticised U.S. President Donald Trump over a rise in civilian war casualties in Ukraine since he took office in 2025. She asked why Trump’s year of negotiations was the deadliest for Ukraine’s civilian population since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Ukrainian experts point out that countries, including China, Greece, North Korea, Hungary, Slovakia, Iran, and Brazil, assist Moscow in killing Ukrainians in its war against Ukraine by funding the Russian budget through trade.

Human rights organisations and Ukrainian authorities emphasise that structural economic pressure remains a key tool to halt such atrocities. They urge every nation and individual government worldwide to strictly enforce global sanctions, close existing regulatory loopholes, and completely sever remaining commercial and technological ties with the Russian Federation. Civil society groups stress that any continued cooperation by foreign businesses directly contributes to the resources Moscow uses to sustain its ongoing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Ukraine.
