Chiygoz sends open letter from Crimean remand prison
Akhtem Chiygoz, arrested by Russian de facto authorities of occupied Crimea, wrote from a remand prison that, despite the difficulties, he did not intend to give up and thanked everyone for their support.
The letter of Chiygoz was published on page Facebook by his wife Elmira Ablyalimova.
“I have been staying in a remand prison in Simferopol for 18 months already. Many people are concerned by my health status… Of course, it becomes harder to stay here, in isolation, every day, not seeing friends and family, my grandchildren, and not being able to see them, not knowing whether I will someday see alive my elderly parents… It hurts to have all these thoughts,” Chiygoz wrote.
According to him, he does not intend to give up, despite all the difficulties.
“The mere thought of steps, which should be taken to stop everything, – kneeling before villains, corrupt petty people, betraying own principles, discrediting myself and the entire Crimean Tatar people – makes my blood boil! Support of my people and many people around the world gives me strength and patience. Thank you all,” the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis noted.
As reported, Deputy Chairman of Mejlis Chiygoz was arrested in January 2015 for participating in the rally in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine in front of the Supreme Council of Crimea on February 26, 2014. The Russian authorities of the annexed Crimea accuse him of organizing mass unrest.
The court left Chiygoz in custody until October 8.
