Ukraine’s mortality rate exceeds birth rate fourfold

Birth rates have fallen most sharply in regions close to the front line. The Donetsk Region (Oblast) has seen births decline threefold, while the Zaporizhzhia Oblast recorded a 23% decrease. At the same time, the number of newborns has also dropped significantly in relatively secure regions. Births fell by 20% in the Vinnytsia, Lviv and Ternopil Oblasts

There are reports that Russians struck a critical infrastructure facility in the Lviv Oblast. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi stated that it is currently unknown whether Russia attacked the Lviv region with the "Oreshnik" missile

The National Police of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service (SES), and regional military administrations reported civilian casualties. Russians also caused damage, including to energy and railway infrastructure, across the Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Lviv, and Mykolaiv regions following Russian shelling on the night of October 30, 2025

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Russia launched more than 50 missiles and around 500 attack drones against Ukraine on the night of October 4-5, targeting Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odesa, and Kirovohrad oblasts
