The report says the organisers, the Association of Families of Azovstal Defenders, did not choose the location for the event by chance. On Muromets Island, a series of events took place aimed at uniting servicemen, families, and all those who support the “Azov” Brigade on the occasion of the 11th anniversary of the military unit’s creation, which is celebrated on May 5th.

Organisers said the events included sports and charity initiatives, reminder actions, and festive activities intended to demonstrate that Ukrainians’ spirit cannot be broken.

They called on Ukrainians to attend the rallies every Sunday with flags, posters, and photographs of prisoners or simply to be present and collectively say, “We do not forget.”

Every voice is important. Every presence is a sign of support,” the association stated.

The Russians are violating all norms of international law and the Geneva Conventions governing the treatment of prisoners of war. In addition to inadequate conditions, they use torture during interrogations, which is morally degrading, the journalist emphasised.

It is recalled that every weekend in various cities and towns of Ukraine, the Association of Families of Azovstal Defenders organises rallies in support of Ukrainian soldiers held in Russian captivity.

Earlier, ZMINA reported on an action held in Kyiv near the American Embassy building, “No ‘Deals’ Without the Release of Ukrainians from Captivity”, organised by the “Soldiers’ Release” public organisation.

Its participants called on the American administration to pressure the Russian Federation to return Ukrainian prisoners. Their release should demonstrate Russia’s ability to negotiate with the entire world.
