Lawyer Kurbedinov, who was detained in Crimea, sentenced to 10 days of an administrative arrest
Russian-controlled Zheleznodorozhnyi District Court of Simferopol sentenced lawyer Emil Kurbedinov to an administrative arrest for a term of 10 days.
As reported by the correspondent of the Human Rights Information Centre.
On the morning of January 26, Emil Kurbedinov, the defense of Ilmi Umerov, the Deputy Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, and the lawyer of journalist Mykola Semena, was detained by the Road Patrol Service when he was heading to the search in the house of an activist Seyran Saliev.
Kurbedinov is accused of publishing photos of a protest, which took place in 2013. There is a symbol of “Hizb ut-Tahrir” on the photo. Russia’s Supreme Court banned “Hizb ut-Tahir” in 2003 and included it in the list of terrorist organizations.
During the court hearing Kurbedinov made a request about the participation of prosecutor in the trial. Judge Tatyana Belinchuk denied the request, because, as she said, this is an administrative case.
The name “Kuybediniv” is indicated incorrectly in the protocol on administrative violation. This has not concerned the judge. Although this is the basis for the cancelation of the protocol and cessation of the proceeding, noted the correspondent.
As a reminder, on January 25, officers of the FSB detained lawyer Mykola Polozov, who is defendeding the interests of Ahtem Chiygoz, the Deputy Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, and Ilmi Umerov in the court.
