Number of temporary detention facilities in Ukraine declines 2.5 times

The number of temporary detention facilities in Ukraine has decreased from 380 to 144.

This was announced by Head of the National Police of Ukraine Khatia Dekanoidze during the joint board meeting of the Interior Ministry and the Justice Ministry, Ukrayinska Pravda (Ukrainian Truth) media outlet reports.

The number of staff of these facilities has decreased from 3,500 to 2,200 employees.

As the Head of the National Police reported, the Interior Ministry launched the reform of the detention facilities system last year.

As reported, the number of prisoners in Ukraine reduced by 3,500 people over 2015.
