Ukraine’s Parliament passes revised anti-discrimination legislation
The Parliament of Ukraine has passed in the first reading the amendments to certain laws to adapt the legislation in the field of combating discrimination to the EU law.
231 MPs voted for the bill No. 3501.
“The law aims to improve and humanize the anti-discrimination legislation,” MP Iryna Herashchenko said, Ukrayinska Pravda online newspaper reports.
“We suggest amending the Criminal Code and removing the criminal liability under the articles relating to discrimination while strengthening administrative liability,” she noted.
The authors believe that this will help to punish violators.
