The Government of Ukraine is ready to launch the work of the State Bureau of Investigation, but the parliamentarians and the President have not yet submitted their candidacies for the commission for appointment of the Bureau’s director.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk said this in Kharkiv at the ceremony of launching the rapid response police patrol, the government portal reports.

I expect the Parliament and the President to submit to the Government their proposals for the personnel commission to appoint the director of the State Bureau of Investigation,” he said.

The Prime Minister accuses the MPs and the Head of State of delay in launch of the Bureau.

It means the delay in establishment of the new, independent, not post-Soviet but pro-European State Bureau of Investigation,” he stressed.

He added that he supported the introduction of a new body.

The Government is ready to form the State Bureau of Investigation as a new body that will investigate the crimes fairly and according to the law,” he said.

As a reminder, the President signed the law on the State Bureau of Investigation on January 14 this year.

Last November, the Parliament passed the Law on the State Bureau of Investigation. According to the law, the President shall appoint the director of the Bureau upon recommendation of the Prime Minister after selection by the competition commission.

The State Bureau of Investigation shall be the central body of executive power that provides law enforcement activity to prevent, detect, suppress and expose the crimes within its jurisdiction.
