Muslims in Crimea may be banned from performing rites at home
The Crimean imams have been hinted that the traditional home ceremonies will be outlawed soon.
Mufti of the Spiritual Directorate of Ukrainian Muslims ‘Ummah‘ Said Ismahilov posted this on his Facebook page.
“Crimean imams were hinted that traditional funeral and memorial rites, which are performed at home, will be outlawed. Even in the days of the Soviet Union it was not prohibited to gather at home and recite the Quran and prayers for the dead… But modern Russia trenches upon so-called everyday religion. In the nearest future we won’t be able to pray for the parents, together with other relatives,” Ismahilov wrote.
“By doing so, by interfering into people’s religious life, the Russian authorities just anticipate the ruin of the empire. One cannot just deprive people of the components of the national and religious identity. After all, it is impossible to stop people when they have nothing to lose but their chains,” he added.
According to the Avdet newspaper, the Russian Federal Security Service officers conducted precautionary discussions with local imams. ‘Yarovaya law package’ was the topic of discussions.
According to First Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Nariman Dzhelial, nowadays the information about imams, mullahs, leaders of the Muslim communities and even people who are involved in washing the corpse and grave-diggers is collected.
As reported, the Russian de facto authooties in Crimea carries out repressive measures against the Crimean Muslims, accusing them of involvement in the activity of ‘Hizb ut-Tahrir’ international Islamic political organization, which is considered to be a terrorist organization in Russia.
