Poroshenko dismisses notorious judge Kireyev
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has dismissed four judges.
Rodion Kireyev, notorious judge of the Pechersky District Court in Kyiv, who examined the case of Yulia Tymoshenko, is among them.
According to the conclusion of the High Council of Justice of Ukraine, Kireyev allowed arbitrary and unlawful imprisonment of Yulia Tymoshenko by substituting the measure of restraint of a written pledge not to leave city with detention in custody.
The judge’s decision violated the fundamental human right to freedom and became the basis for filing the claim to the European Court of Human Rights, which was sustained and therefore harmed the reputation of the state.
In addition, Poroshenko dismissed judge of Chervonozavodsky District Court in Kharkiv Olena Vasylyeva, who prosecuted the activists of the protest action of February 19, 2014. Then the two activists were sentenced to 15 days of administrative arrest for blocking the doors of the Academy of Internal Affairs.
Vitaly Litvinov, the judge of the Obolonsky District Court in Kyiv, was dismissed also because of his rulings against the Maidan activists. In particular, an activist was unreasonably detained in custody during January-March 2014.
Oleksiy Zolotarev, the judge of the Leninsky District Court in Luhansk, was dismissed for four unlawful judgments concerning the ownership of pipelines in 2013, resulting in the collapse of a land reclamation system in the region.
