In occupied Berdiansk, children studying in Ukrainian schools online are threatened to be removed from their families
In Berdiansk, Zaporizhzhia region, the occupiers threaten to deprive local residents whose children study in Ukrainian schools online of their parental rights.
This was reported by Viktor Dudukalov, Deputy Chairman of the Berdiansk District Council, on the Espresso TV channel.
He said that threats and cases of fines against parents of such children have recently increased.
“If a child is seen studying in a Ukrainian school online, the Russians fine the parents. In fact, only the fine is officially recognised by the occupiers. The biggest threat is the deprivation of parental rights and removal of the child from the family for studying in a Ukrainian school“, Dudukalov said.
Parents and students under occupation choose Ukrainian education alongside Russian education, said the deputy head of the district council.
He explained that it is very difficult for a child not to be in contact with a Russian school under occupation, but parents leave their children in a healthy environment so that they can receive a quality education.
“The Russian propaganda did not work, and the occupiers could not get everyone to sing the Russian anthem together. For the third school year in a row, they have been unable to get all children out of Ukrainian schools. So these threats, fines and repressions continue. And people make this choice because they are Ukrainians“, he added.
Earlier, ZMINA reported that in the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region, armed Russian soldiers conducted inspections of families raising school-age children on the eve of the start of the new school year.
