Crimean Tatars are detained in Bakhchysarai and Simferopol
Today, 5 cars with Crimean Tatar flags were detained in Bakhchysarai. Administrative protocols were drawn against the drivers for an uncoordinated mass event and drivers were taken to the court.
As reported by reporter of the Human Rights Information Centre.
The large-scale of the event, according to the law enforcement officers, consisted in the fact that 5 cars were driving in the same direction in a column.
In addition, 10 Crimean Tatars, including minors, were detained at the building of the Crimean Parliament. All were taken to the Central Police Department. 8 people were released, after taking explanations. Two minors remain in the Department until their parents arrive.
According to the detainees, they simply were walking with flags and some of them are not even familiar with each other.
Later, reporter of the Human Rights Information Centre learned about the detention of three more Crimean Tatars, who were marching along the street of Simferopol with the national flag.
Also, according to the reporter, law enforcers tried to detain Suleyman Kadyrov, activist of the national movement of the Crimean Tatars, and several journalists of the Crimean Tatar Club at the monument to deportation in the Privokzalnyy square.
The reason for the detention of journalists was the request to provide permission to film.
But Lilia Bujurova, Editor of the Crimean Tatar Club, reminded the law enforcers of the law, which prohibits filming in a public place.
As a result, the journalists’ passport data was copied and they were released.
Kadyrov was also released after clarifying all the circumstances.
In addition, law enforcers detained Crimean Tatars in the central square of Simferopol, Lenina Square.
“Just now we have been informed about the detention of our compatriots in the central square of Simferopol! Among them are Server agya Karametov, Nariman Dzhemilev and Server Izmailov. They are being taken to the Central Police Department”, – reported Zair Smedlya on his Facebook page.
At the same time, Alishe Umerov, Deputy Head of the Mejlis, reported that Izmailov is an elderly man with Parkinson’s disease, “who went to the square with the national flag, and only for that reason he was detained”.
As reported by reporter of the Human Rights Information Centre, one of the people detained on Lenina Square, the 76-year old Server Karametov wanted to meet with Aksyonov. He wanted to ask him to legalize the Muslim cemetery in the Staryi Krym. The man was not accepted in the “Council of Ministers” and he unfolded Crimean Tatar flag on the central square of Simferopol. He was detained within an hour by policemen and was held in the Central Police Department for more than 3 hours. After Karametov was released, he returned to the square.
As a reminder, today is the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Crimean Tatar Deportation.
