Russian shelling claimed the lives of seven civilians in Ukraine

Russian shelling on April 23, 2026, killed seven civilians in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Kherson regions, and another 24 were injured, including in the Kharkiv Oblast, according to the National Police of Ukraine.

The victims of the Russian strikes on April 23 were:

  • An elderly woman in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast region, who was struck at night;
  • Two people in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast;
  • Three deceased in the Donetsk region;
  • A moped driver was the target of a drone launched by the Russians in the Kherson Oblast.

At least ten casualties, including two children, resulted from a night strike by the Russian military in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

There were seven casualties in the Donetsk Oblast, which the Russian military struck over 1,100 times during the day. Among the injured are people from Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, Druzhkivka, and Kramatorsk.

In the Kherson region, the Russian military injured three civilians on April 23, including an elderly woman and a utility worker from Kherson, at whom the Russians directed a drone in the morning in the regional capital. Additionally, three victims of earlier enemy shelling were included in the daily report.

Another elderly woman was injured on April 23 due to a Russian strike on Kozacha Lopan in the Kharkiv Oblast.

To provide background, on April 22, the Russian military killed two civilians in Ukraine with shelling.

Ukrainian experts point out that countries including ChinaNorth KoreaHungarySlovakiaIran, Serbia, and Brazil assist Moscow in killing Ukrainians in its war against Ukraine by funding the Russian budget through trade.

The Financial Times reported that Singapore, the world’s largest bunkering port, is replacing lost Middle Eastern cargoes with Russian oil, as the war with Iran continues to destabilize global energy markets. Imports of Russian fuel oil to Singapore have surged since the start of the conflict. According to Vortexa data, the volume in April has already more than doubled the average monthly level of 2025.
