On February 24, 2026, seven civilians were killed in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions as a result of Russian shelling, while 23 others were injured across five regions, including Donetsk and Chernihiv, the National Police reported.

State Emergency Service (SES) rescuers use powerful searchlights to navigate the jagged ruins of a partially collapsed three-story residential building in the Synelnykove district of the Dnipropetrovsk region on the night of February 25, 2026. The destruction followed a strike by Russian guided aerial bombs (KABs) that completely destroyed one entrance. A house hit by the Russian military in the Dnipropetrovsk region

The victims of Russian shelling on the fourth anniversary of the start of the full-scale invasion included:

  • An elderly infrastructure enterprise worker in Kherson, killed by a Russian drone;
  • Two residents of the Pokrovsk “hromada,” a local government area that includes one or more nearby settlements, which Russian forces struck with guided aerial bombs;
  • Two women and two men in Zarichne, where enemy aviation conducted strikes.

In addition to those killed, many civilians sustained injuries, with the highest number reported in the Kherson Oblast.

At least 10 people were injured following Russian military strikes on Kherson. Among the victims are seven municipal workers and a woman who stepped on a “Pelyustka” mine. Russian forces have been increasingly using remote mining to target the region’s liberated bank from occupied territory; ZMINA has previously shared guidance on how to protect oneself.

Seven more people were injured due to Russian strikes in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. These include six neighbors of those killed in the Pokrovsk hromada and a pensioner from the Vasylkiv hromada.

In the Donetsk region, which was targeted by a total of 1,400 Russian strikes throughout the day, three people were injured in Druzhkivka and Osykove.

In the Zaporizhzhia Oblast, February 24 ended with two victims, including a 15-year-old girl from Zarichne and a 59-year-old man from Novotroitske.

Also, on February 24, the Russian military injured a teenager in the Chernihiv Oblast. A Russian drone struck private property where a boy, who had just turned 14 a few days ago, was located.

To provide background, during the four years of the full-scale war, the Russian military has officially killed more than 15,000 civilians in Ukraine through shelling.
