The petition suggests dismissing the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin and conducting open and transparent competition for the position.

This is stated on the website of the President of Ukraine in the section of electronic petitions.

According to the petition’s initiator Oleksandr Petrenko, Viktor Shokin “has not managed to improve the work of the Prosecutor General’s Office for the time of his work, but has been involved in scandals over covering up corrupt prosecutors.”

As of now, the petition gained over 25,000 votes. Now, according to the law, it must be considered by the President.

As a reminder, petition for legalization of weapons had also gained the necessary number of votes, but the President of Ukraine noted that only 11% of Ukrainians supported legalization while and 82% were against, and the signatories of the petition were not the whole of society. It is planned to conduct the broad discussion on legalization of weapons involving the experts and the public late October.
