The Sosnovsky district court of Cherkasy city, central Ukraine, has found guilty four former officers of the local traffic police, who did not defend the Euromaidan activists from the hired thugs during the protests.

As the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine reports, the court considered the events which had occurred near the Cherkasy Regional State Administration overnight into January 27, 2014. The press service clarifies that the hired thugs committed “offenses” against the activists of the protests and their property.

The court ruled to fine the ex-traffic policemen and prohibit them from holding the posts in the state authorities for two years.

As reported, the families of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and the public demand a transparent competition for the post of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine and suggest considering the candidacy of Serhiy Horbatiuk, the Head of the Special Investigations Department at the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, for this post.
