The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant is in its second day of a blackout due to Russia’s actions – Energoatom
Energoatomі company stated that for the second day in a row, the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has been forced to operate on diesel generators due to the loss of external power supply.

The company stressed that this creates a critical situation that threatens the security of not only Ukraine but also European countries.
“On September 23, as a result of another provocation by the Russian Federation, the power line supplying the ZNPP from the Ukrainian power grid was damaged,” the statement of the Energoatom reads.
According to information from the National Energy Company Ukrenergo, this line is operational in the territory controlled by Kyiv, and there are no technical obstacles to its use.
“Despite this, the occupiers deliberately do not connect the station to the power supply, continuing a crude disinformation campaign against Ukraine. In this way, they are knowingly endangering millions of people across the continent”, Energoatom elaborated.
The company also explained that diesel generators are only intended for emergency power supply and are not capable of meeting the station’s long-term needs. Their shutdown could lead to a loss of control over the facility’s nuclear safety.
“We call on the international community and partners to increase pressure on the aggressor country. The plant must be immediately returned to the control of its sole legal operator, Energoatom, to prevent a radiation and nuclear disaster,” Energoatom stated.
Previously, ZMINA reported that during the Russian occupation of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), at least 13 employees of the station had been illegally deprived of their liberty by Russian forces.
