Seven Ukrainians killed in Russian shelling on April 2

As a result of shelling by the Russian military on April 2, 2026, in the Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Donetsk regions, seven civilians were killed, and at least 62 more sustained injuries, particularly in the Zaporizhzhia and Sumy Oblasts, the National Police reported.

The victims of Russian strikes on April 2 were:

  • a 65-year-old man in the Kharkiv Oblast;
  • two men in the Dnipropetrovsk region;
  • a 41-year-old man from Kherson, at whom Russians struck with a drone;
  • three in Druzhkivka and Oleksiyevo-Druzhkivka in the Donetsk Oblast.

In addition to the dead, dozens of people, among whom were children, sustained injuries, and at least 24 were in the Kharkiv region.

First, Russians injured 11 people in Kharkiv, including a one-month-old boy and an 8-year-old girl. Then they struck Lymanivka, where three teenagers were injured. Later, they hit Korotych, where two more children were injured.

Another 19 civilians were injured due to Russian strikes on the Kherson Oblast. All of them sustained injuries in Kherson at different times of the day due to enemy strikes with drones and artillery. Among the injured are a teenager and three police officers. In the latter case, the Russian military struck the cars of law enforcement officers when they arrived at a service station.

In the Donetsk Oblast, Russians struck over 1.5 thousand times on April 2. 13 locals were injured in this region.

Four injured people due to Russian strikes on April 2 were in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast. They are a man in the regional center, a driver, at whose car Russians struck near Bilenke, and also two men in Malokaterynivka and Kushuhum.

One person in the Russian military was injured with strikes in the Dnipropetrovsk and Sumy regions: in the first case, it was a female resident from Nikopol, and in the second was a woman from the Hlukhiv “hromada,” a local government area that includes one or more nearby settlements.

To provide background, on April 1, the Russian military killed three civilians in Ukraine with shelling, and in over four years of full-scale war — more than 15 thousand.
