Savchenko goes on hunger strike
Ukrainian pilot, MP Nadiya Savchenko, who is now tried in Russia for the alleged murder of journalists, goes on hunger strike.
The hunger strike will last starting from tomorrow till the end of trial of her, one of her lawyers, Nikolai Polozov, posted on Twitter.
“I go on hunger strike starting from tomorrow till the end of trial!” Polozov quoted Savchenko as saying.
Polozov added that Savchenko intended to go on “dry” hunger strike after the sentence would be delivered.
Earlier, the prosecutors asked to extend the Savchenko’s custodial term until April 16, 2016. They gave the judges a certificate stating that the health condition of Savchenko was satisfactory and she could be further held in custody. Savchenko said she had not been examined.
Savchenko had already gone a hunger strike earlier.
As a reminder, Nadiya Savchenko is accused of that she allegedly murdered two Russian journalists on the “LPR” territory on July 17, 2014 and then illegally crossed the Russian border. Savchenko says that she had been abducted and transferred to Russia against her will before the journalists were killed.
