Russians execute two captured Ukrainian soldiers in the Donetsk region
Russian forces have killed two captured Ukrainian soldiers in the Donetsk region. The Office of the Prosecutor General reported that the incident occurred on May 22, 2025, near the settlement of Udachne.

Russian troops assaulted positions where four Ukrainian servicemen were performing combat duties. The Russians captured and executed two of them. The fate of the other two remains unknown to law enforcement.
Law enforcement officials reiterated that the killing of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and, as a serious international crime, has no statute of limitations. Those found guilty of killing the soldiers could face life imprisonment.
Over three years of the full-scale war, investigators have documented the execution of at least 268 Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian forces.
Last year, 2024, the UN noted a significant increase in the number of executions, torture, and cruel treatment of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
Recently, Russian military personnel were captured on the front line, one of whom was involved in the execution of Ukrainian prisoners. According to their testimonies, they received the order to kill from their commander.
