Poroshenko recognizes protection of rights and freedoms as main task
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko considers protection of the rights and freedoms to be the most important task of the domestic and foreign policies of the state.
The President noted this in his address on the occasion of International Human Rights Day.
“I consider securing the rights and freedoms of citizens to be one of the most important tasks of domestic and foreign policies of our state,” he said.
According to Poroshenko, the recently adopted National Human Rights Strategy is a very important document for the country.
“I want to thank all the non-governmental organizations, especially the human rights organizations, who were actively involved in the elaboration of this important document for the country,” he said.
“As the Head of State I will continue doing everything possible to secure that the constitutional rights and freedoms of the citizens of Ukraine. I am confident that together we will overcome the difficulties in the development of our country,” the President said.
As a reminder, today the Human Rights Information Centre ends its marathon #FeelYourRights, timed to coincide with the International Human Rights Day.
