Over 90% of Ukrainians believe that corruption is problem in their city – poll

91% of Ukrainians believe that corruption is a problem in their city.

This is evidenced by the results of the poll, conducted by the Rating Group Ukraine with the support of the Government of Canada, the Ukrayinska Pravda (Ukrainian Truth) media outlet reports. The poll results were published on the website of the US International Republican Institute.

63% of respondents believe that corruption is a serious problem, 28% – partial problem. 3% of Ukrainians believe that it is not a big problem, and 1% believe that it is not a problem at all.

The residents of Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Poltava, Mykolayiv and Ternopil have the most serious attitude to the problem of corruption (over 70%) while the residents of Chernivtsi, Severodonetsk and Mariupol have the least serious attitude (less than 40%).

Compared to the survey conducted in March 2015, the seriousness of perception of the problem of corruption decreased in the majority of cities in Ukraine.

When asked about nepotism, the majority of Ukrainians (56%) also called it a serious problem, yet 29% – partial problem, 7% – not too serious problem, 1% – not a problem at all.

The most serious attitude to this problem is observed in Mykolayiv, Sumy, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, the least – in Severodonetsk, Chernivtsi, Mariupol.

The seriousness of perception of this problem also slightly declined over the past year.

The poll was conducted in 24 cities on January 20 – February 8.
