270 people held liable for crimes against Maidan – Ukraine’s GPO

The criminal charges of murders of activists, committed during the Euromaidan protests in December 2013 – February 2014, have been brought against 270 persons, including 44 high-ranking officials

Head of the Special Investigations Unit of the Main Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine Serhiy Horbatiuk said this on the air of Hromadske.tv.

All suspects, who were in the territory of Ukraine, were notified of suspicion and most of them were arrested. It also refers to former head of the Security Service department in Kyiv and Kyiv region. The investigation against him is over. The indictments against ex-head of the Kyiv City State Administration Popov and four commanders of the “Berkut” special police force, suspected of organizing the crackdown on November 30, have been sent to the court and are considered in court now,” he said.

Horbatiuk also noted that the ex-deputy interior minister was suspected of illegal initiation of adoption of the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers allowing the possibility of using enhanced riot control means.

Earlier, the Human Rights Information Center reported that the Interior Ministry of Ukraine had released the data of those, who had kidnapped and tortured Maidan activists Tetiana Chornovil, Ihor Lutsenko and Yuri Verbytsky.
