On August 18th, the “Supreme Court” of Occupied Crimea dismissed a petition from Akhtem Chiygoz which would have allowed him into the courtroom, reports Krym.Realii.

“Yet another petition was made to allow Akhtem into the courtroom. Judges do not even consider these petitions. They believe that they have decided this issue once and for all,” said his lawyer, Emil Kurbedinov.

According to Kurbedinov, not one of the “witnesses” in the courtroom can answer to what Chiygoz is being accused of.

“They say that they came on orders to protect the Verkhovna Rada from Crimean Tatars – that’s all,” he added.

As reported earlier, the Court left Akhtem Chiygoz, the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars, in detention until October 8th.

He is suspected of organizing and participating in mass riots on February 26th of last year near the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea.
