Russian forces execute two Ukrainian POWs in Zaporizhzhia Oblast
Russian troops shot dead two Ukrainian prisoners of war on the outskirts of the village of Zatyshshia in the Huliaipole hromada of the Polohy District, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, according to reports, according to DeepState, a Ukrainian group of military analysts, and Dmytro Lubinets, Ukraine’s Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights.
“The enemy has once again violated the rules and customs of war by shooting and killing two soldiers from Ukraine’s defense forces on the outskirts of Zatyshshia. Sadly, enemy incursions are growing in scale, and being five km from front-line positions provides no protection from encountering hostile infantry, especially when the front is in one direction, and the bastards have come in from the rear,” the DeepState explanation reads.
DeepState also reported that Ukrainian forces killed these Russian soldiers with an FPV drone within 20 minutes.
Dmytro Lubinets stressed that the killing of prisoners of war is a grave violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, constituting a serious international crime.
“I have sent official letters to the ICRC and the UN. The international community must immediately respond to such systematic gross violations by Russia,” he said.
