Russian airstrike hits residential area in Mykolaiv, killing three civilians, including child
Russian Armed Forces launched an airstrike on a residential area in the City of Mykolaiv, claiming the lives of three civilians, according to Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych on Telegram and Vitalii Kim, head of Mykolaiv Oblast Military Administration.
At 16:42, Ukraine’s Air Force reported a threat of airstrikes in the southeast. Half an hour later, the Ukrainian military noted that a missile had been launched on Mykolaiv Oblast, stressing that “Mykolaiv should take cover immediately”.
At 17:17, Sienkevych said an explosion was heard in Mykolaiv. A Russian missile strike on Mykolaiv hit a children’s playground near a residential house. Kim said ambulances were on the way to the scene.
The Mykolaiv mayor later added that “three people, including a child, are known to have been killed” in the attack.
Among those killed in Mykolaiv is 12-year-old Kyrylo Diadiushko. He was involved in folk dancing, as reported by the ensemble where the boy danced.
“A great tragedy has occurred in our ensemble… Our Kyrylo Diadiushko is no more. Today he came under fire,” the Souvenir folk dance studio reported.
