Six civilians injured in mine explosion during evacuation in Kharkiv Oblast
An explosive device injured six civilians during an evacuation in the Chuhuiv district of Kharkiv Oblast. Three people sustained blast injuries, while the other three suffered acute stress reactions.
“The incident happened in the village of Starytsia. The explosion injured three civilians: two men aged 18 and 63, and one woman aged 43,” the Kharkiv Oblast Military Administration wrote on Telegram.
Later, the Kharkiv Oblast Prosecutor’s Office added that the explosion took place on the morning of July 12 in Starytsia village, Vovchansk hromadaі , when six civilians who took a forest path to evacuate from the region triggered an explosive device left behind by Russian occupation forces.
The Kharkiv Oblast Prosecutor’s Office initiated a pre-trial investigation into the violation of the laws and customs of war under Art. 438.1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported another incident in Myrne village, Mykolaiv Oblast, where a man sustained injuries from an unidentified explosive device while working in a field. He was hospitalized with a preliminary diagnosis of “mine-explosive trauma”.
On July 7, 2024, at least four members of a family travelling by car were killed when they hit a Russian mine in the Kharkiv Oblast, according to Oleh Syniehubov, head of Kharkiv Oblast State Administration, on Telegram. Two children among those were killed.
Earlier, ZMINA reported that the Security Service of Ukraine is preparing a large evidence base for the International Criminal Court indicating the deliberate use of anti-personnel mines by Russians against the civilian population of Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian security service, more than a thousand civilians have been affected by Russian explosive devices since the start of the full-scale invasion, 297 of whom were killed. Many children are among the victims.
Previously, Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to world leaders who are still not on board with the Global Peace Summit to join the collective effort. He called on them to show leadership in advancing real peace, not just a pause between strikes.
Zelenskyy expressed confidence that the efforts of the global majority are the best guarantee that all commitments will be fulfilled.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin claimed that Russia would not participate in the next Peace Summit. He called Zelenskyy’s peace formula an ultimatum and added that Russia would not take part in such summits.
