Moscow police arrests activists for hanging Ukrainian flag on high-rise
Moscow police arrested the activists of the “Unity of the Equal” movement who hung the flags of Ukraine on scaffolding around the high-rise on Kotelnicheskaya Embankment in Moscow.
Five people participated in the action, the Mediazona news portal reports.
Activists Alexey Domnikov, Alexandr Sharapov and Alexandr (his last name is not revealed) were delivered to the Tagansky district police station.
The action of the “Unity of the Equals” movement was timed to the anniversary of the outbreak of mass protests in Kyiv in November 2013.
During the action, the activists hung the flags of Ukraine and flags of the movement advocating the pro-European democratic development of Russia on the scaffolding around the high-rise.
Earlier, Ukrainian roofer Mustang painted the star on the spire of the same high-rise in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. When the police had arrested five young people over this incident, the roofer posted the video proof on the Internet, but it had no impact on the court’s ruling.
In September, Moscow’s Tagansky District Court acquitted four base jumpers, who jumped from the high-rise’s roof on that day. They were accused of vandalism and hooliganism on political grounds.
The fifth person involved in the case, 20-year-old roofer Vladimir Podrezov was found guilty of vandalism and was sentenced to two years and three months in colony. Podrezov was on the roof of the high-rise on the day the star was painted. According to the Tagansky court verdict, an unidentified person painted the star.
