Witnesses informed the General Prosecutor’s Office about the 134 executions committed in Donbas

People, who were captured by the militants of the “DPR” and “LPR”, reported on the mass executions committed by militants and Russian military in Donbas.

As reported in the response of the General Prosecutor’s Office to the request of RBC-Ukraine, they are witnesses in proceedings of relatively large-scale and systematic violations of the laws and customs of warfare.

Currently, more than 900 people were interrogated as victims in the pre-trial investigation. The interrogated people were directly held captive, tortured and subjected to inhuman treatment by representatives of illegal armed groups.

“In particular, the victims reported that they witnessed the killing of 134 military servicemen and civilians, 121 of which have not yet been identified”, – the General Prosecutor’s Office reported.

“At the same time, the investigation revealed the facts of deaths of captured military servicemen and civilians by military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and those involved in the terrorist organizations of “DPR” and “LPR”, – added in the agency.

“Currently, 13 people were identified from the testimony of the victims who were questioned. These 13 people were killed by participants of the terrorist organizations of “DPR” and “LPR”, – said in the General Prosecutor’s Office.

It is noted that the testimonies specified about the massacres in Sloviansk, Horlivka, Makiivka and in Ilovaisk district of Donetsk region.

More than 10 people from among the militants of the so-called “DPR” and “LPR” and military servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces are being checked by investigative means for possible involvement in the commission of these crimes.

As a reminder, on June 6, human rights defenders of the public organization Shore of Peace who, in particular, are looking for missing persons, presented their report titled “Executed in Donbas”.

According to the report, the researchers recorded 95 cases of executions in eastern Ukraine.

Out of 95 executions, 50 were civilians. 63 people were killed with the use of firearms, 18 – died from tortures. Among the killed – 84 men and 11 women.

Human rights defenders accuse the illegal armed groups of Donetsk region in the executions of 49 people, the illegal armed groups of Luhansk region in 30 executions, and in 11 cases they accused the Ukrainian military. They were unable to establish the perpetrators of the deaths of five people in their study.
