Avdiivka left without water supply because of shelling again

Avdiivka, located near the “contact line”, left without water supply again as a result of shelling of Donetsk filtration plant.

As reported by Hennadiy Zubko, the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, on his Twitter page.

“Direct projectile hit in the filtration plant. The work of plant was stopped. People were hidden in the bomb shelter. City left without water supply again”, – he reported.

“Militants will not calm down and continue the shelling, on the basis of the support of Netherlands and the ratification of the agreement between Ukraine and the EU”, – said Zubko.

The management of the Donetsk filtration plant announced the decision to stop the work of filtration plant and evacuate the personnel.

As reported on the website of the Donetsk filtration plant, filtration plant has sustained heavy shelling for two days. Shells hit the tank №1, roof is damaged.

Two hits in tanks of clean water were recorded, shells fell near the administrative building and near building with filters, in addition, building with filters was hit with shrapnel, window overlaps were damaged, roof was damaged.

It is impossible to continue the work of the Donetsk filtration plant in such circumstances, people are almost permanently kept in the bomb shelter. The company’s management made decision to evacuate the personnel and stop the work of filtration plant.

The press service of “Voda Donbassa” (Water of Donbas) reported to the “Ukrayinska Pravda” (Ukrainian Truth) publication that the work of the plant has stopped.

According to the press service, the decision was made for the period until the normal conditions for employees of the Donetsk filtration plant are restored.

This is not the first time when the water supply of Avdiivka stopped due to shelling.

On February 18, coke plant of Avdiivka and Donetsk filtration plant were de-energized after shelling, city was left without water supply.

Filtration plant provides water for Avdiivka and surrounding towns, as well as the occupied Yasynuvata and part of the occupied Donetsk.
