Several regions are already building underground schools to protect children from Russian shelling during their studies. Currently, such schools operate in Kharkiv, Kherson, and the Sumy region.

Five underground schools have already opened in the Zaporizhzhia region, but kindergartens were not set up underground. For example, in the Kharkiv region, officials stated that such a step was allegedly illegal, although they did not refer to any specific legal regulations.

Fedorov, commenting on the opening of preschools underground, called it a complex issue. The official noted that about 15,000 children are educated daily in underground schools, and this number is planned to increase to 25,000 by September 2025.

By this time, 10 educational institutions should already be operating underground in the region.

It is recalled that the first Ukrainian city to build an underground school was Kharkiv, which is constantly under Russian shelling. Recently, the second such institution was opened in the city.
