Russian Federal Security Service handed an updated resolution on charges against Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ilmi Umerov on November 2.

His lawyer, Emil Kurbedinov said this in his video address posted on Facebook.

The resolution clarified the charges in connection with results of the examination. I remind that the investigators sent the material filmed by the ATR [TV channel] to identify if there are certain elements of extremism. The examination’s response was, of course, satisfactory. These data were included in the resolution on prosecution,” the lawyer said.

In connection with the new circumstances of the case, the investigator wanted to carry out another interrogation, but Umerov refused to come, referring to Article 51 of the Russian Constitution, the lawyer added.

As reported, the Russian FSB detained Ilmi Umerov in Bakhchisarai on May 12. The Russian law enforcement agencies opened a criminal case against him under separatism charges in the annexed Crimea.
