In order not to react to each one separately, the MFA prepared a universal position and broadcasts it in the format of a radio stream in three languages – Hungarian, Ukrainian, and English.
The online radio titled Hungarian Radio of Ukraine operates around the clock. In the broadcast, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns the manipulations of Hungary’s Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán, and his attempts to drag Ukraine into Hungary’s internal politics or election campaign.
The message also notes that Ukraine has never wished, and does not wish, ill toward the neighboring country. Listeners are urged not to trust anti-Ukrainian propaganda, and it is emphasized that Ukraine strives to be a good neighbor, a member of the EU and NATO, and not a part of the “Russian world.”
Finally, the MFA thanks listeners for their attention to Hungarian Radio of Ukraine.
To provide background, in February the head of the Hungarian government, Viktor Orbán, stated that he considers Ukraine an enemy of Hungary; in this way, he responded to Kyiv’s demands on the EU to refuse cheap Russian energy.
Previously, The Guardian reported that Hungarian security service officers administered a “forced injection” to one of the Ukrainian cash-in-transit guards from Oshchadbank detained in Budapest in early March. Hungary has stolen money that belong Oschadank.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends refraining from traveling to Hungary.
