Investigation faces impediments in “Euromaidan cases”, including on the part of the GPU leadership

Horbatiuk “Lutsenko does not respond to complaints about the Chief Military Prosecutor Matios”The investigation into the “Euromaidan case” is constantly confronted with obstacles in the process of investigation, including on the part of the General Prosecutor’s Office (GPU) leadership.

As reported by Serhiy Horbatiuk, Head of the Department of Special Investigations of the GPU, during the broadcast of 112 Ukraine TV channel.

“The investigation constantly faces obstacles in the process of investigating these cases, these obstacles are also created by the leadership of the General Prosecutor’s Office, including Matios (Chief Military Prosecutor of Ukraine Anatolii Matios – ed.). I repeatedly wrote written complaints, especially on what these crimes involve, to the General Prosecutor on this matter. But, unfortunately, there is no response”, – he said.

In particular, Serhiy Horbatiuk mentioned the investigation of economic affairs.

“There was a meeting at which there was no discussion of the investigation of economic cases, a protocol was drawn up, after which Matios receives this protocol, knowingly false information is being entered in the protocol that the investigation is ineffective and cases are taken away”, – said Horbatiuk.

“Another case is the investigation of murders in Khmelnytsyi on February 29. The Military Prosecutor’s Office has investigated this case for 2.5 years, since the SBU was suspected, but eventually they concluded that “people from Maidan” had shot themselves”, – he noted.

“Out department was forced to take this case and “from scratch” start the investigation”, – he added.

According to him, at present there are up to ten reports on illegal actions of Matios, “but there is no response”.

“I have acted lawfully for the past year. But if there is no further reaction then I’ll have to turn to the Supreme Council of Justice, or if there are signs of criminal offense, to another law enforcement agency. Since these are violations and response is required”, – said the Head of the Department of Special Investigations of the GPU.

He noted that the results in the investigation of Maidan’s cases “exist and they are sufficiently significant, the work continues”. Currently, more than 350 people have been informed about the suspicion of “Maidan cases”, indictments for more than 230 people have been sent to court and there are more than 35 sentences.
