Representative of the Investigative Committee of Russia Vladimir Markin is sure that Ukrainian citizen Nadiya Savchenko will face tough sentence.

He said this on the air of Vesti FM, the Ukrayinska Pravda (Ukrainian Truth) online newspaper reports.

I have a hunch that the sentence will be tough enough, because the crimes, committed by so-called pointer Savchenko, are very clearly regulated by our legislation because the crime was committed against Russian citizens,” Markin said.

He supposes that Nadiya Savchenko will be sentenced till the end of the year.

As a reminder, Ukrainian pilot, MP Nadiya Savchenko is accused of killing Russian journalists on the territory of Luhansk region on June 17, 2014. According to the prosecutors, Savchenko adjusted the shelling that killed journalists. The lawyers insist that Savchenko had been already abducted at the time of their death and require initiation of proceedings over abduction and illegal transfer of the pilot to Russia.

As reported, Russia opened the case against sister of Savchenko, Vira Savchenko, over the contempt for court. Vira Savchenko faces a fine of up to 200,000 rubles, or arrest for up to six months.
