FSB persecuting children of imprisoned human rights defender Emir-Usein Kuku in Crimea

Representatives of the occupation authorities in Crimea are persecuting children of Crimean Tatar human rights defender Emir-Usein Kuku.

His lawyer, Alexander Popkov, posted this on his Facebook page.

He recalled that earlier “a man, who introduced himself as FSB officer, bothered children, telling them how bad their dad is and how long he will be sitting in jail.”

“We asked our ‘authorities’ to hold this man and those, who sent him on a mission, liable,” he said.

However, according to the lawyer, “authorities” “started to check bad parenting of Emir-Usein Kuku” instead.

According to him, an inspector came to school on Monday and on Tuesday and demanded to speak with children.

“When I explained her on the phone that her actions on catching children without parents are a little bit illegal, she took it as a threat and demanded to see my contract and my legal explanation why children refuse to speak with her,” he added.

According to Popkov, the children are now afraid to go to school, stay home, and the adults are afraid that masked men with machine guns will come and take away children.

Human rights activist Emir-Usein Kuku and another 14 Crimean Tatars are accused by Russian de facto authorities in Crimea of collaboration with the organization “Hizb ut-Tahrir.” He was detained in February 2016 and was put in remand prison.
