Students of the Polytechnic were order to delete the web-pages of groups in the VKontakte and Odnoklassniki social networks
The Dean’s Office of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” has sent letters to the students with the recommendation to delete the web-pages of groups in VKontakte and Odnoklassniki social networks.
As reported by the Hromadske.ua, the corresponding decision was taken at the request of the Cyberpolice, noted in the letter.
“In accordance with the letter from the Department of Cyberpolice of the National Police of Ukraine, we ask you to remove the official pages of the groups on the Internet resources of VKontakte and Odnoklassniki. If you are unable to delete the webpages, send us your login and password”, – said in the message.
Hromadske.ua tried to take an official comment in the press service of the Cyberpolice of Ukraine regarding the sanctions that could be envisaged in case of refusing to delete the web-pages, methods of deletion and access to social networks if they are prohibited and the like.
However, the police refused to comment and asked to send a written request, after which the answer to the question will be coordinated and the statement will be commented.
As a reminder, on May 16, 2017, President Petro Poroshenko signed a decree that introduced the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine to update the list of sanctions against a number of Russian companies, including Aeroflot, VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, Yandex and a number of media resources.
Access to all services of Yandex and Mail.ru is prohibited for three years. A number of large Russian IT-companies (1C, Kaspersky Lab, Envision, etc.) were also sanctioned.
12 journalists from Russia, Bulgaria, Poland, Moldova and Germany, as well as one Ukrainian citizen fell withinthe sanctions.
Ukrainian human rights defenders and experts believe that the new Decree will damage the freedom of Internet in Ukraine and the image of the country will significantly worsen in the eyes of the international community.
