Case of prosecutor, involved in crimes against Maidan, to be investigated in absentia

The court has permitted to conduct special pre-trial investigation into the criminal proceedings against a former employee of the Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv, involved in the commission of a crime during the Revolution of Dignity.

This is reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine.

According to the statement, the Pechersky District Court in Kyiv made such a decision on July 8 to grant a motion of the main investigation department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine.

It was established during the pre-trial investigation that the former prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv committed an abuse of power as expressed in holding knowingly innocent persons criminally liable.

The name of the prosecutor in is not disclosed.

Interfax-Ukraine news agency recalls that on January 4, 2016, the Prosecutor General’s Office served a notice of suspicion against ex-prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv Oleksandr Bevza over prosecution of Maidan activists.
