Russians damaged four thermal power plants, injuring civilians
Russians fired 34 missiles, targeting Ukrainian electricity and gas transit facilities on the night of April 26-27, injuring civilians.
Russian Armed Forces damaged four thermal power plants (TPPs) owned by the largest private energy company in Ukraine, DTEK. The company elaborated that the equipment was seriously damaged.
According to Serhii Lysak, Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Military Administration, two of the oblast’s energy facilities were damaged in the Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih districts in a Russian combined attack.
A 39-year-old man was injured and taken to hospital in moderate condition.
In addition, Russians continued shelling the Nikopol district in the evening and at night. Artillery shelling occurred three times and drones struck their targets four times. An 82-year-old woman was injured. Seven five-storey buildings, a market, over 10 shops, an office building and a beauty salon were damaged.

Chervonohryhorivka and Marhanets Hromadasі Hromada – an administrative community designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories. were also attacked. Cars were damaged in Marhanets Hromada. Assessment of the affected areas is ongoing.
Ukraine’s Air Force reported the Russians used a total of 34 air-, ground- and sea-launched missiles. 21 missiles were shot down by Ukrainian air defence.
According to the DTEK, the Russian army has attacked Ukrainian TPPs 180 times since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in his video address, has said that Ukraine needs at least seven Patriot air defense systems. He has urged the country’s allies not to waste time in order to signal their determination to stand with Ukraine against Russia.

Zelenskyy also said that during the massive Russian missile strike on the morning of 27 April, “Russian terrorists’ missiles’ trajectories and the nature of the attack were intended to make our air defense’s work as difficult as possible.”
“Russian terrorists can see that, unfortunately, our partners aren’t as determined to protect Europe from terror as they are to do so in the Middle East. But [our partners] can give us the air defense systems that we need. We mustn’t waste time. We need to signal determination,” Zelenskyy added.
President Zelenskyy said on Friday that Russian jets had targeted Ukraine with more than 9,000 “guided aerial bombs” so far this year and Kyiv needed to be able to shoot their planes down.
The Ukrainian President has said that the global majority can and should compel Russia to implement a just peace and the Ukraine Peace Summit in June might lay the foundations for this.
