Russia attacks UN humanitarian convoy in Kherson Oblast, destroys aid trucks (updated)
Russian troops attacked a humanitarian mission of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the Bilozerka hromada – a local government area that includes one or more nearby settlements – in Kherson Oblast on the morning of October 14, 2025, according to Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Oblast military administration.

Prokudin reported that Russia deliberately struck four white trucks with UN markings that were carrying humanitarian aid to civilians, using drones and artillery.
One truck was completely burned, and another was heavily damaged in the attack. Two vehicles managed to leave the area under fire. No one in the convoy suffered any injuries.
“Today, the world’s ‘second army’ has defeated a large amount of humanitarian aid. They are terrorists — have nothing more to say here,” he said.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani condemned the strike on a UN World Food Programme convoy and said an Italian official was among the escorts but was unharmed.
“Attacks on civilians, hospitals, and now humanitarian workers are unacceptable. Russia must cease the violence and start acting responsibly. My solidarity goes out to the UN, its staff, and the Ukrainian people,” Tajani wrote on X.
The attack was also condemned by Hadja Lahbib, European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
By way of background, since February 2022, Russia has deliberately tried to destroy Ukraine’s agricultural potential – mining fields, striking storage facilities, targeting farmers, and even attacking humanitarian food convoys.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs previously reported that, risking their lives, Ukrainian farmers provided over 320,000 tons of food to 18 countries through President Zelenskyy’s Grain from Ukraine initiative, implemented in partnership with the UN World Food Programme.
Earlier, ZMINA reported that Russian shelling on October 12, 2025, killed at least eight civilians and wounded 16 others across the Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Chernihiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions.
