Employers to be repaid expenses for IDPs’ employment

To get compensation, an employer should contact the employment center and present a statement and a copy of the employment agreement.

According to the Diversity Initiative website, the Ukrainian government approved the decree No. 696 on procedure for implementation of the measures to promote employment, refund of the money allocated to finance such activities in case of breach of job security for the internally displaced persons of September 8, 2015.

According to the lawyers of NGO “Luhansk Community”, the compensation for salaries expense lasting no more than six months is granted to an employer hiring an IDP, who registered at the employment center. To get compensation, an employer must guarantee employment of these workers during a year.

Compensation for salaries expense is paid on a monthly basis in the amount of actual expense on IDPs, but not above amount of average salary of regular employees in the respective region.

To get the state compensation, an employer should file a statement to the employment center in any form as well as a copy of the employment agreement or hiring order within two months from the employment date.

As a reminder, according to the study on needs of IDPs and host communities in eastern Ukraine, the displaced persons lack information about escape routes, humanitarian assistance, finding housing and employment.
