Poroshenko pardons twelve convicts
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko issued the decree to pardon twelve people.
The relevant statement was published on the website of the President.
The statement reads that the President “considered the petition for pardoning the people, sentenced by the courts of Ukraine, filed by the Commission for Pardons, and took into account the severity of the committed crimes, the duration of the actual sentence, the personality of the convicts, their marital status, the behavior before the commission of the crime and after sentencing, compensation for damages and the recovery of the caused damage, the opinions of the penal institutions and the monitoring commissions for feasibility of pardons, and other circumstances.”
The pardon took place in accordance with Paragraph 27 of Article 106 of the Constitution of Ukraine.
