The President of Ukraine signed off on an amendment to the Law “On the status of war veterans, guarantees for their social protection” regarding the status of those who defended the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
According to reports on the official site of the Verkhovna Rada, the law is back in the Parliament after being signed by the President.
According to the document, the list of persons who are privy to the guarantees of social protection was expanded to include employees of the State Special Transport Service and the State Penitentiary Service who have participated in the ATO.
The guarantees will also apply to volunteers in the ATO and members of volunteer associations and groups.
With these changes, the families of those killed or MIA will be eligible to receive benefits under this law.
Earlier, civic organizations presented a brochure “The benefits and guarantees for the participants of the anti-terrorist operation,” which covers how to obtain the status of an ATO participant and certificates of being “combatants” and “disabled veterans.”
