Earlier, the Defense Ministry of Ukraine warned that the pro-Russian militants had been preparing a provocation.

As Ukrayinska Pravda (Ukrainian Truth) online newspaper reports, this is stated in the OSCE SMM report on this incident.

The OSCE informed that their representatives had arrived at 3.5km south-south-west of the centre of Kominternove village (92km south of Donetsk, 23km north-east of Mariupol) from “Donetsk People’s Republic” (“DPR”)-controlled Zaichenko (90km south of Donetsk). There, the SMM started monitoring on foot.

At 11:20hrs, while conducting analysis of the third crater, the SMM heard three single shots of small arms, outgoing 150-200m north-north-west of its position, and saw the third shot impact on the ground 5-7m north-east of its position,” reads the report.

The ATO positions are located outside Kominternove. Thus, the OSCE SMM confirmed that the fire had been opened from the militant-controlled territory.

On Sunday morning, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry reported that militants had been preparing a provocation near the village of Kominternove. Later, the separatist media reported about the shelling of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission allegedly by the Ukrainian military.
