“232 educational institutions were damaged or destroyed due to active hostilities. Their reconstruction began immediately after the liberation of the territories where they are located,” wrote Zhanna Osypenko, deputy head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration.

According to her, 136 schools and 175 kindergartens were located in the combat zone or on the temporarily occupied territory. Before the full-scale invasion of the Russian army, more than 52,000 students and almost 15,000 kindergarteners were studying there.

“No decisions were made to close or liquidate educational institutions operating in the territories liberated from the Russians. The network of educational institutions has been preserved. We will restore them, as they are all necessary for our children,” said Osypenko.

Educational institutions in the Kyiv region were damaged in 10 other communities in addition to the occupied territories. Rocket attacks destroyed them.

As a reminder, as of the end of July 2023, the Russian army destroyed 180 schools in Ukraine. More than 1,300 educational institutions have been destroyed and damaged due to Russian aggression.
