The monitors will check the living conditions of the servicemen of the 53d brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the Shyroky Lan training ground in Mykolaiv region.

The corresponding instruction was given by Ombudsperson Valeria Lutkovska, referring to the numerous complaints about poor conditions from soldiers.

Because of these conditions, some of the servicemen were forced to voluntarily leave the brigade location on February 8, 2016 and to walk to Mykolayiv city to address the senior military leadership,” reads the statement of the Ombudsperson’s Office.

According to the Ombudsperson, the problems in the 53d brigade are systematic. This, in particular, is evidenced by the fact that the brigade had poor conditions in the previous location in the village of Cherkasske.

The monitors will check what are the real conditions of accommodation, meals, bathing and laundry services, pay service, health care, as well as the rights and freedoms of the military personnel.

Earlier, the media reported that 46 soldiers of the 53d brigade, dissatisfied with conditions of their placement at the training ground, walked to Mykolayiv on February 8 to demand an immediate response to what was happening from the military prosecutor’s office.

The military prosecutor’s office conducts an inspection over this fact.
