The Ukrainian Ministry of Social Policy has registered 1,783,900 IDPs from Donbas and Crimea, who make up 1,444,165 households.

This data has been provided by the social protection units of regional administrations and the Kyiv city administration as of June 13th, reports the Ministry of Social Policy press service.

The press service notes that 880,064 families have applied for benefits, and, of them, 820,325 families have been approved and aided.

Since the beginning of this year, beneficiaries have received a total of 1,416,106 UAH.

Earlier in June, human rights activists criticized the changes in government resolution #509, through which IDPs experienced difficulties in obtaining pensions and social benefits.

On June 10th, human rights activists called on citizens to come to a demonstration at the Cabinet of Ministers Building with demands to stop violating the rights of IDPs. Human rights activists were outraged by resolution #637, as it initiates discriminatory processes against IDPs. One of the debated clauses requires a person to confirm their physical presence within three days if the authorities come to check their registered address.

On June 10th, President Petro Poroshenko signed a bill to amend the Labor Code, which now obliges employers to hire internally displaced persons without a trial period.
