The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine has launched an information database (a register) of the internally displaced persons throughout Ukraine.

Andryi Reva, the Minister of Social Policy, told the press agency “Ukrainian news”.

“We’ve launched it throughout Ukraine”, – said Reva.

According to him, the register started to work on October 3.

On August 1, the Ministry of Social Policy launched the register in test mode. On September 26, it began operational in Kyiv.

Before a single register was created, every social protection authority in the regions had its own register. They worked separately. It was impossible to know exactly how many there are IDPs, where they live, what are the problems with the social benefits.

According to the minister, a new register allows keeping electronic records of all the IDPs.

“Now, we can track, if, for instance, an IDP is in two registers. This also allows to exchange information between different authorities: the State Border Guard Service, Pension Fund, the Security Service of Ukraine and others, in order to have a complete information about every person”, – pointed Reva.

According to the Ministry of Social Policy, there is 1,8 mln. IDPs in Ukraine.

It also stated that 350,000 IDPs, who have a right to a pension, do not receive it.
